Ilona Szeifert attended Columbia College Chicago and studied Filmmaking and Photography. After making some desirable connections, she started shooting large scale fundraisers right out of college, even shooting the mayor of Chicago’s private birthday party. Shortly after that she joined a North Shore studio and started shooting high-end weddings and bar mitzvahs.
She started off as a second photographer specializing in candid’s and progressed to shooting events on her own. This grueling career lasted 16 years afterwhich ilona retired. Film was on its way out and digital was just being introduced. Ten years had passed and after relocating to Wisconsin, ilona purchased her first digital camera in 2015. Now starting over, she decided to shoot landscapes and nature photography for fun. Ilona says, “Photography is a work in progress. It doesn’t matter how old you are, you are always learning the craft, discovering the world around you and exercising your God-given creativity”.
She also dabbles in writing and wrote a children’s book called Ellie’s Adventures in Egypt, based on her own personal travel to Egypt in 1986.
